FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQ: FAQ

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN THE FIRST SESSION?

The first session consists of a discussion of the issue, the terms of therapy, approach and how many sessions you would like to book (I initially recommend six for individuals and twelve for couples) and a historical assessment.

WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?

Each session for Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy is £90 (individuals), £100 (couples) and £60 for Loss & Bereavement Counselling, payable via BACS payment at the end of the session.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PSYCHOTHERAPY AND COUNSELLING?

Counselling is short term therapy which usually focuses on a present specific problem and deals with patterns of behaviour.

Psychotherapy is long term therapy which draws on insight to emotional problems and difficulties from the past.

HOW DOES CONFIDENTIALITY WORK?

Basically, whatever you say in therapy, stays in therapy. However, there are times then a therapist is legally obligated to break confidentiality for example:

Harm to self or others; a child under the age of 16 or older adult in care is in danger; your files are subpoenaed; or a client experienced a heath emergency during a session.

Please also see the privacy policy.

ARE YOU A MEMBER OF A PROFESSIONAL BODY?

Yes, I am a registered Psychosexual & Relationship Therapist (PRT) with the Professional Body for Psychosexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT). I am bound by their Ethical Framework and Codes of Practice. This way of working is there to protect you by ensuring I am professional, ethical and safe.

DO YOU HAVE A DBS CHECK (DISCLOSURE AND BARRING SERVICE)?

Yes, I have a current Enhanced DBS Certificate.
